The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident Wednesday evening in Caledonia that may be a part of a domestic violence case.
Deputies reported to a home on Pearrow Drive in Columbus where residents said they witnessed a Dodge Durango pull into the driveway, followed by a pickup that rammed the Durango. The witnesses said as the Durango pulled away, the person in the pickup began firing at the Durango. One of the witnesses said he fired at the pickup after the initial shots were fired.
Deputies identified the owner of the truck, who was contacted by the LCSO. The Durango’s owner, along with a friend who was in the vehicle at the time of the incident, met with deputies later Wednesday evening.
The owner of the Durango said the driver of the pickup was her estranged husband. The woman said her husband had a history of violence and was tracking her movements through a GPS he has attached to the Durango. The women said they were traveling to a friend’s home when they realized they were lost.
They pulled into a driveway to turn around when the woman said her estranged husband rammed her vehicle from behind.
No charges have been filed as LCSO continues to investigate the incident.
