A New Hope man died on his way to work Wednesday morning when his vehicle collided with a loaded log truck.
Ricky Lane, 54, was driving north on Highway 45 at about 6:08 a.m. when his vehicle struck the rear of a northbound 18-wheeler near Kolola Springs Road in Lowndes County, a Mississippi Highway Patrol press release said.
Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant said the 18-wheeler was loaded with tree-length logs.
Lane was on his way to work at Tronox in Hamilton at the time of the wreck, Merchant said.
Lane was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the log truck was not injured, according to MHP.
