The Columbus City Council Tuesday authorized application of a Justice Assistance Department grant, for about $16,700, to be used for the Columbus Police Department to purchase three two-wheeled, self-balancing electric vehicles, similar to Segways.
Additionally, the council accepted letters of retirement from Federal Programs and Building Inspections Director George Irby, whose last day with the city is June 30, and CPD Sgt. Gary Moore.
Columbus Mayor Robert Smith thanked Irby and Moore for their years of service to the city.
The council also voted to allow the three members of the city”s Board of Adjustment and Appeals to serve as an appeal board for appeals related to the city”s property maintenance code.
