A former West Point police officer has been indicted for embezzlement.
Shaun T. Keller, 41, is accused of stealing almost $4,000 from the West Point Police Department, according to a press release from the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office.
A grand jury in Clay County indicted Keller for taking $3,904 from WPPD’s evidence, and authorities arrested him Thursday.
Keller was fired from WPPD for misconduct during a special-call meeting of West Point selectmen in October. At the time, West Point officials would not comment whether Keller was the suspect in an embezzlement investigation.
The AG’s Public Integrity Division investigated the case. If convicted, Keller could face 20 years in prison.
Keller has been released from Clay County Jail on $10,000 bond.
