Construction begins this month on a facility for Mississippi Steel Processing LLC, a new company to be located on the Severstal campus and to provide services to Severstal customers in the southern United States and Mexico, said Severstal officials.
A toll processor for hot rolled sheet steel, providing slitting, cut-to-length and warehousing services for Severstal customers, the company ultimately will employ 55 people, said Mississippi Steel Processing President Chip Gerber.
The company”s building, which initially will be constructed by Jackson-based Malouf Construction Co., will be expanded in phases over three years to a total of 294,000 square feet.
Cadence Bank of Columbus is providing equipment financing and structural components for the building are being supplied by Ceco Building Systems. The initial facility likely will be completed and operational in about 11 months, Gerber said.
A groundbreaking event for the project is planned for later this month, Severstal officials said.
