Those planning to vote in the upcoming primary for Mississippi’s Third Congressional District House or Representative have two days left to register.
Oktibbeha County Circuit Clerk Tony Rook confirmed Monday at 5 p.m. is the deadline to register to vote in the June 5 primary election. He added his office will be open from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday for people to register as well.
“We encourage everybody to get out and vote, do their research and select the candidate they think would represent us the best,” Rook said.
He added those who have recently moved to a different precinct should also change their address on their voter registration “as soon as possible.”
Six Republicans and two Democrats will meet in June 5 primaries for their respective party nominations, each hoping to replace outgoing Rep. Gregg Harper, who is retiring. Those primaries’ winners will join a Reform Party candidate in the Nov. 6 general election.
