Four people suspected of being involved in a car theft ring are in the custody of Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office.
The four individuals are accused of stealing cars and selling them for scrap metal, LCSO Capt Greg Wright said. Investigators confronted them at a salvage yard on Gardner Boulevard Thursday, and chased the suspects to 17th Street North where the suspects finally stopped, Chief Deputy Marc Miley said. The chase lasted less than five minutes.
The suspects’ names have not been released, pending official charges, but Wright said the individuals are expected to be charged with grand larceny, accessory to grand larceny and felony eluding.
Investigators say there may be more arrests in the case.
