Lynn Brown, Columbus Arts Council executive director, has resigned from her position, effective June 29.
CAC board members announced Brown’s resignation in a press release earlier this week. Brown will update current staff on projects, grants and items in the AmeriCorps VISTA program until her resignation date, according to the release.
“I have enjoyed working with Lynn,” CAC board president Jerry Fortenberry said in the press release. “I also consider Lynn a good friend and wish her the best.”
Brown was hired as CAC executive director July 5, 2017, replacing Tina Sweeten, who stepped down to become Regional Volunteer Services Coordinator for American Red Cross in Flowood. Brown tendered her resignation just short of a year of employment with CAC.
Jerry Fortenberry, CAC board president, said Brown has not stated a reason for departure and added he is unaware of any future employment following her resignation.
Beverly Norris, current program manager, will serve as interim director until a permanent hire has been made. Fortenberry said a timeline and replacement process for Brown has not been designated.
