JACKSON — Jackson police say a Vicksburg man stopped a break-in of his car, but was hit and killed by the burglars as they sped off in their own car.
Police told The Clarion-Ledger on Tuesday that 52-year-old Franklin Salas was pronounced dead Sunday from injuries inflicted Saturday night.
Police spokesman Sgt. Joseph Daughtry says that Salas left a restaurant, saw people in his car, and ran toward them, yelling for them to get out. He says the others got back into their own vehicle and sped off, hitting Salas.
Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham-Stewart said he died from head trauma and his death has been ruled a homicide.
No arrests have been made.
Witnesses told police the suspects” car was a white, two-door Chevrolet Monte Carlo with chrome wheels.
