A city employee who was hospitalized following a lawnmower accident Monday has been treated and released from Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.
According to a city press release, an employee with Columbus Public Works was taken to Baptist Monday morning after the lawnmower the victim was riding overturned off Highway 45.
City officials did not release the employee’s name, citing privacy restrictions, but Human Resources Director Pat Mitchell confirmed the employee has been released from the hospital.
The accident occurred while the employee was cutting grass in a ditch near the Hogan Chevrolet dealership in Columbus, the press release said. After the mower overturned, it caught fire. Crews with Columbus Fire and Rescue responded to the blaze.
