A Columbus man was arrested Friday after he allegedly fired a weapon into the air to scare off a Domino’s Pizza delivery driver.
Eugene Robinson Jr., 28, of 811 Railroad St., faces one charge of aggravated assault with a weapon, according to a Columbus Police Department press release.
The release said the victim showed up at Robinson’s home Friday evening at 5:40 p.m. after Robinson’s girlfriend, unbeknownst to Robinson, ordered a pizza over the phone. Robinson said he knew nothing about the order, pointed a handgun at the delivery driver and then fired the weapon into the air, according to investigators.
The delivery driver then retreated to his vehicle and called the police.
“I want to thank the victim for calling the police and letting us handle this,” CPD Chief Fred Shelton said in the press release. “This could have turned out a lot worse with someone hurt over this misunderstanding.”
Robinson has been released from Lowndes County Adult Detention Center on $20,000 bond.
