Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a pair of armed robberies Saturday near Columbus Air Force Base.
According to Lt. Tony Cooper of the LCSO, two suspects, believed to be black males, entered the Sensations Adult Novelty Store at 4061 Highway 373, a little before 6 p.m. Saturday and robbed the cashier and a customer of an undisclosed amount of money.
“They were dressed in black clothing, hoodies and masks and both had firearms, according to the witnesses,” Cooper said.
Cooper said suspects from another reported armed robbery in the area matched the description provided by the cashier and customer at Sensations.
That robbery happened outside a residence on Priscella Circle, about 2-1/2 miles from the Sensations store, Cooper said.
“This one happened about an hour-and-a-half earlier,” Cooper said. “A man was unloading groceries when he was approached by two black males in dark clothing with guns. The victim was struck by one of the men after he was robbed.”
Cooper said LCSO is returning to the Sensations location to see if there is any surveillance video.
“Right now, we’re trying to determine if the robberies are related and gathering information from witnesses from both sites,” he said.
