One West Point man has died following a fatal shooting over the weekend.
The victim, Aaron Fenton, 26, of West Point, was killed when he was shot at about 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the corner of Fifth Street and Progress Street, according to West Point Police Chief Avery Cook. Cook did not release details on the extent of the victim’s injuries, but said Fenton’s body had been taken to a crime lab in the Jackson area for autopsy and that more information would be released after that autopsy was complete.
Cook said there was no suspect in custody as of press time and declined to comment on motive.
The shooting occurred in a residential area in northeast West Point.
West Point Police Department is investigating the shooting.
