A local man is in jail and a woman seriously injured after he reportedly assaulted her.
Deputies with Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office arrested Devin Thompson, 28, of 129 Lela Lane, for domestic violence-aggravated assault Monday. The day before, investigators had been called to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle where an ex-girlfriend of Thompson’s told them Thompson entered her home and attacked her, according to a LCSO press release.
The victim said Thompson picked her up and threw her onto the floor, causing extensive head trauma. She drove herself to the hospital but was later flown via helicopter to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
The victim is 32 years old.
Deputies arrested Thompson at the Lowndes County Courthouse the next day. The press release said Thompson was at the courthouse on unrelated business.
Thompson is currently in custody at Lowndes County Adult Detention Center where his bond has not been set.
