Starkville police have arrested a suspect in last week’s shooting at The Block Townhomes.
Police arrested 19-year-old Carson Clement, of Eupora, on a felony warrant for attempted murder Thursday. The arrest comes a week after a shooting on the night of Aug. 16 that sent one victim to the hospital.
Police responded to the shooting at 10 p.m. on Aug. 16 at The Block on South Montgomery Street. A male victim was initially taken to OCH Regional Medical Center with gunshot wounds after the shooting, then airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Police have declined to identify the victim, but he has been reported to be in stable condition.
Clement was taken to the Oktibbeha County Jail from Muscle Shoals, Alabama. He is being held in the jail on a $250,000 bond. His initial municipal court appearance is set for 2 p.m. Thursday, if he does not post bond by that time, according to SPD Public Information Officer Brandon Lovelady.
