A fight inside a downtown bar ended in a hit-and-run early Sunday morning, when one of those involved in the fight drove a car onto the sidewalk and struck a woman.
The woman was taken by ambulance to Baptist Memorial Hospital- Golden Triangle, but today police did not know details of the extent of her injuries.
The vehicle bent and nearly felled a parking sign outside Huck”s Place.
Police say the fight began inside Fuhgetaboutit at 110 Fifth St. S. Police were called to the scene around 1 a.m. Sunday, Columbus Police Chief Joseph St. John said.
“We were getting ready to do a walk-through for our bar detail when we were notified of a hit-and-run,” said St. John. “It stemmed from what appears to be a prior physical assault.”
According to police, an unknown number of people became involved in an altercation inside the bar. The fight spilled out to the street, at which point one of the people involved got into a car and struck the woman.
The case is under investigation; no other details were available at press time.
