A fatal car wreck, involving a stolen vehicle, claimed the lives of two people just after midnight Saturday morning in Columbus.
Kimberly Denise Neal, 43, of Aberdeen, and Starkville High School football "hype videographer" Michael Ian Reed, 24, of Columbus, both died in the head-on collision on Highway 82.
Neal was driving a 2014 Toyota Prius, which was reportedly stolen from Matson Road 30 minutes prior to the wreck.
According to a Columbus Police Department press release, Neal entered Highway 82 near the Lee Stokes exit, traveling westbound toward Starkville in the eastbound lane. Neal collided with Reed, who was driving a 2004 Toyota Camry, in the left-passing lane on Highway 82 near Waters Truck and Tractor in Columbus.
Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant confirmed both drivers were the only occupants in the vehicles during the crash. Both pronounced dead at the scene.
CPD is investigating the wreck.
Nicole Thomas, Starkville-Oktibbeha Consolidated School District's public information officer, said Reed was a volunteer with the district.
"He had a passion for video and football," Thomas said. "He was loved and respected by our players and coaches. The district is very sad to hear of his death."
