A Nevada man is being sought for an armed robbery at Burlington Shoes in Columbus.
David Barnhart, 34, of 995 Holman Circle in Sparks, Nev., entered the 1492 Old Aberdeen Road store, located off Highway 45 next door to Old Navy, around 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening and wrote a check for a purchase.
When the check was declined, Barnhart reportedly pulled out a large, black handgun and demanded cash from the register. He fled the scene in a white Pontiac Grand Am or Grand Prix with Nevada plates with an undisclosed amount of cash, leaving behind the declined check.
Using the personal information from the check, Columbus Police retrieved a mug shot of Barnhart from Nevada authorities, which the cashier and several witnesses to the crime picked out of a six-picture lineup.
Barnhart is listed as 6 feet 2-inches tall and 225 pounds. He has hazel eyes and brown hair.
Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call the Columbus Police Department at 662-244-3500 or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 1-800-530-7151.
