The Starkville Police Department Monday released the identities of the two remaining suspects wanted for an armed robbery last week on Spring Street.
Starkville police have issued arrest warrants for Ismail C. Smith, 20, of 3759 Highway 46, Cedar Bluff, and Lisa Brown, 20, of 135 Sand Road, Apt. 4, Starkville, on charges of armed robbery. Starkville police last week issued an arrest warrant for the third suspect in the case, 28-year-old Kizzy Campbell, whose last known address was 1510 Harrison Road, Brooksville.
All three of the suspects were still at large as of this morning, Starkville Police Department Detective Landon Stamps said.
According to police, a male and a female left a Fourth of July party in the Caldwell Street area last Sunday and encountered the three suspects at a nearby store. Later that night, the suspects” vehicle, an older-model Chevrolet, pulled up in front of the party, and the suspects said they were having car troubles.
The male and female helped the suspects put water and oil in the car, and the suspects left, Stamps said.
Around 2 a.m. on July 5, the male and female were walking home from the party and were in the area of Spring Street and Spruell Place when they heard the Chevrolet approach from behind. When they turned around, they saw the vehicle rolling slowly with its lights off, Stamps said.
The male and female ran, but were caught by Smith, who had his hand “wrapped up” and told the victims he had a gun. He threatened to kill the male and female victims if they didn”t hand over their money, Stamps said.
Smith grabbed the female victim”s purse from under a nearby vehicle, where she had kicked it, returned to the vehicle and the three suspects fled, Stamps said.
Police later found the purse behind America”s Best Value Inn. Officers also recovered the car that morning in the Hancock Circle area, behind Hardee”s.
“It broke down on them that night,” said Stamps, who touted the efforts of patrol officers.
Police were able to identify Smith and Brown through tips to the SPD and Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers, Stamps said.
Campbell borrowed the vehicle used in the crime from a friend, which led police to her identity.
Smith is between 6-foot-1 and 6-foot-3, approximately 180 pounds; Brown is 5-foot-6, 135 pounds; Campbell is 5 feet tall and 160 pounds.
Victims identified the trio of suspects in a photo lineup.
Anyone with information on the suspects” whereabouts can contact Stamps and the Starkville Police Department at 662-323-4131, or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 1-800-530-7151.
