An arrest affidavit The Dispatch obtained from Lowndes County Justice Court sheds light on the tumultuous relationship between a weekend fatal shooting victim and the woman he was allegedly attacking when he was shot.
Tymechi-Ali Lachil Spann, 26, of Macon, died during surgery at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle Saturday after being shot apparently in a domestic violence incident at the Greentree Apartments east of Columbus. The apartment resident, 25-year-old Jasmine Webber, told Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office investigators that early that morning Spann had forced his way into her apartment, attacked her while she was holding her 10-month-old baby and choked her, causing her to go in and out of consciousness. Another individual in the apartment then shot Spann.
The shooter, Stevie Moody, 26, was arrested later Saturday and charged with manslaughter.
The same day, Webber was booked at Lowndes County Adult Detention Center after being served an indictment for malicious mischief related to an incident from November 2017 when she allegedly damaged Spann’s girlfriend’s car by beating it with a wooden horse stand (saw horse).
At the time of that incident, Webber told deputies Spann still lived with her and that the vehicle’s owner had been coming by her home, according to the arrest affidavit from the 2017 incident. She said she drove by the parking lot, saw Spann’s car there and “just got upset.”
Spann and Webber share a child together. However, the Greentree Apartments regional manager told The Dispatch Webber is the only adult currently living in the apartment, and that she’s lived there less than a year.
Authorities are still investigating whether Webber’s account of the weekend’s shooting is accurate. When reached by The Dispatch Monday, LCSO Capt. Greg Wright said his office was still in the preliminary stages of the investigation and that the initial report deputies received from Webber may not necessarily be what happened — a sentiment echoed by District Attorney Scott Colom Tuesday.
“The incident report does not reflect the current state of the investigation,” Colom said.
Residents in the apartment building where the shooting apparently occurred said they didn’t hear anything Saturday morning and that Webber kept to herself. They also said they didn’t hear violent fighting from the apartment unit. One of the residents in the building who had lived there about six years said Spann used to be at Webber’s apartment “on the regular” but that he didn’t live in the building.
Webber has been released from Lowndes County Adult Detention Center on $1,000 circuit bond. Moody is in custody on $25,000 bond.
