A West Point man was hospitalized after a Monday night shooting.
The shooting occurred just before 6 p.m. near Marshall Park off College Street in West Point. The shooter hit the driver’s side of a parked vehicle, which had two occupants. The shooter then approached the passenger window and shot the victim twice, according to West Point Police Chief Avery Cook. The victim was taken to Mississippi Medical Center-Tupelo for treatment and is in stable condition.
Cook said no one has been charged yet in the shooting, but a suspect is now in custody.
“We have a suspect we are talking to right now,” Cook said. “We are still in the early process of trying to figure it out.”
