The vice president of the Lowndes County School District school board was found dead in his home Friday afternoon on Highway 12 East.
According to Lowndes County coroner Greg Merchant, John Clark, 60, of 3494 Highway 12 E. was found in his home Friday at approximately 5:30 p.m. He was pronounced dead shortly after 6 p.m., Merchant said.
The cause of Clark”s death is still under investigation, Merchant said.
“It”s not foul play,” Merchant said. “It”s just an unexplained death. He did have some health issues.”
Services for Clark are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Gunter and Peel Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Springfield Cemetery, near Millport, Ala. Visitation is today from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home.
In an unrelated case, the wife of Columbus Fire Department Chief Ken Moore died at her home Saturday.
Linda G. Moore, 68, was pronounced dead just after 1 p.m. Saturday, Merchant said. Moore, who served as Columbus” personnel director for many years, had suffered from an extended illness and died of natural causes, Merchant said.
