A Starkville man was arrested Saturday night at Dollar General after fleeing law enforcement in a stolen vehicle.
Javante Hendrix, 19, was driving the vehicle Saturday on Highway 12, according to Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Brett Watson. Deputies began chasing Hendrix after a Starkville police offier reported seeing the stolen vehicle on the highway.
Watson said Hendrix drove from Highway 12 to the Dollar General store on Stark Road. In the parking lot, Hendrix hit another vehicle, then fled into the store, where he tried to take off his outer clothing to disguise himself.
Watson said Hendrix was easily apprehended at the Dollar General with no injuries reported. Watson added the police chase lasted less than five minutes.
The vehicle was originally stolen from the same Dollar General Hendrix fled into, Watson said.
Hendrix has been charged with felony fleeing of law enforcement and felony grand larceny. He is in the Oktibbeha County Jail and bond has not been set.
