Debra Rhinewalt, RN, has been elected director of the Mississippi Nurses Association Council on Nursing Practice. She is the palliative care clinical coordinator at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle.
As director of the state organization, Rhinewalt’s duties include advancing the profession of nursing through activities that relate to the scope and standards of nursing practice; the ethical and legal aspects of nursing practice; and the practice of individual nurses and trends for improvement of health care that affect nurses.
She is a 2008 graduate of Mississippi University for Women with an associate’s degree in nursing. She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from MUW in 2015. She received her Certification for Hospice and Palliative Nurse (CHPN) in 2014.
She is a member of the American Nurses Association, Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association, Mississippi University for Women School of Nursing Advisory Council and Community Baptist Church, where she enjoys working with the children and singing in the choir. She and her husband Edward have two sons and three grandchildren.
