A Mantee man who pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and drug charges in Oktibbeha County Circuit Court was sentenced Thursday to a combined 15 years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
Jake Huffman, 21, pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated assault, one count of sale of clonazepam and one count of sale of MDMA, or ecstasy.
Judge Jim Kitchens sentenced Huffman to 20 years for the aggravated assault charge, though he suspended all but eight of those years. Kitchens also sentenced Huffman to seven years for the sale of clonazepam, which will run consecutive to the eight years he must serve for aggravated assault. Additionally, Kitchens sentenced Huffman to eight years for the sale of MDMA, but the sentence will run concurrent with the aggravated assault sentence.
Huffman also must pay a combined $2,000 in fines, $1,243.53 in restitution and $200 to the state”s Victims Compensation Fund. After Huffman completes his sentence, he faces five years of post-release supervision.
The aggravated assault charge stemmed from an incident on Feb. 15, although additional details were not available in Huffman”s court file. The drug charges stemmed from two separate incidents, during which Huffman sold controlled dangerous substances to “undercover individuals,” according to court documents.
The clonazepam charge dates back to May 20, 2009, while the ecstasy charge stemmed from a sale on Dec. 15, 2008.
In other court business Thursday, Kitchens sentenced Carlos Curiel to six years in the MDOC for the sale of marijuana greater than 30 grams. He also must pay a $500 fine, $250 in restitution and faces four years of post-release supervision.
Kitchens sentenced Timothy Jordan to five years in the MDOC for violating the terms of his post-release supervision from a previous sale of cocaine charge.
Kitchens sentenced Anthony Woods, aka Anthony Davis, to two years in the MDOC for violating the terms of his post-release supervision from a previous possession of a weapon by a convicted felon charge.
Kitchens sentenced Robert Boyd to three years in the MDOC for violating the terms of his post-release supervision for a previous shoplifting, third offense charge.
Kitchens sentenced Courtland Brown to four years in the MDOC for violating the terms of his probation on a previous DUI, third offense charge.
Kitchens sentenced Teresa Duck to three years, but suspended the sentence and ordered Duck on three years probation for false pretense. Kitchens also ordered Duck to pay a $100 fine and $1,123.98 in restitution.
