The second suspect accused in the February shooting of a man on North Montgomery Street was arraigned Friday in Oktibbeha County Circuit Court.
Sixteenth District Circuit Court Judge Jim Kitchens arraigned Antonio Rodrigues Hart, 29, of 508 Inca Drive, on grand jury indictments for one count of aggravated assault and one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling. Kitchens set Hart”s bond at $30,000.
During the early morning hours of Feb. 27, a 23-year-old man had just returned to his North Montgomery Street apartment when he was approached from the Mae Street area by two men who began shooting his way. The victim had a conflict with the two men earlier in the night at a club outside the county, police said.
The victim, who was hit several times, survived the shooting and identified the two shooters as Hart and 21-year-old Dionte Doss, who listed local addresses on Lynn Lane and Roundhouse Road in the past year. Both Doss and Hart now face trial in Oktibbeha County Circuit Court on counts of aggravated assault and shooting into an occupied dwelling because several shots were fired at the victim”s home, where relatives slept, police said. The next court appearances for the duo are scheduled for the October circuit court term.
While out on bond for the February shooting, Doss also is accused of providing the gun used in a retaliatory shooting at the home of Dennis Thompson, the former Starkville High School football player suspected of killing one man and wounding three others outside a graduation party in May. Doss was charged with disorderly conduct and failure to comply with demands of law enforcement officers the morning of the shooting, and later was charged as an accessory to the retaliatory shooting for allegedly providing a gun to the shooter.
Doss also was charged with aggravated assault in 2007 and 2008.
