Are you looking for ways to save energy and save money on your power bill? If so, you”ll want to attend the 4-County Energy Efficiency Expo Saturday, Sept. 11, from 1 to 4 p.m. at East Mississippi Community College in Mayhew. The event, free and open to the public, is designed to help people learn all about energy efficiency.
“The Expo will be a chance for people in the area to find out what kind of energy efficiency services and products are available,” ” said 4-County Director of Marketing Jon Turner. “Whether you want to find out what you should do to seal those gaps around your windows and doors or you want to find out about energy efficient appliances, or you are looking at a larger project like installing new heating and cooling or adding on to or remodeling your home, you can find out about it at the expo.”
The event will feature booths manned by local companies demonstrating energy-efficient items including insulation, building materials, windows and doors, appliances, lighting, heating and cooling units, solar energy for your home, and much more. There will also be demonstrations including do-it-yourself home weatherization, energy-efficient landscaping by Bob Brzuszek of Mississippi State University and solar power for your home and business.
“We know that times are tough and people are concerned about rising costs everywhere. We want to give everyone a chance to find out for themselves what they can do to try and keep their electric costs down,” said Turner. “We are very excited to offer this event and hope that everyone will take advantage of the opportunity.”
The event will also feature activities for children and concessions for sale. Attendees will also get the chance to win some great door prizes.
“We are giving away a brand new energy efficient refrigerator and 4 lucky people will win a free In Home Energy Evaluation with extra cash incentives for doing energy efficient improvements,” said Turner. The free evaluations could be worth up to $1,100 with the extra cash incentives.
