Members of the Salute to Lowndes County”s Finest Committee unveiled a huge thank-you card Thursday for the community to sign and share their thanks to first responders in Lowndes County. Sales manager by day and creative thinker by night, Andy Shurden rolled up his artistic sleeves and created the giant card in his garage. Shurden recruited his daughters, Raelee and Hannah Shurden, to assist in the creation of the artwork.
“With the help of my daughters, the thank-you card was a fun project and a great opportunity to talk to them about the role that our first responders have and that they are here to help us all,” Shurden explained.
“I encourage all that can take a moment out and go sign the community thank-you card to do so,” Shurden added.
The thank-you card will be displayed until Sept. 9 at the Columbus Arts Council located at 501 Main St. The card will be available to sign at the following times:
- Today: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Saturday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Tuesday: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
- Wednesday: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
- Thursday: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The card will be displayed during the Salute to Lowndes County”s Finest event on Sept. 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the lower level of the Trotter Convention Center. A come-and-go barbecue luncheon will be provided to all first responders in Lowndes County.
