The westbound lanes of Highway 82 were closed for more than 45 minutes late Friday after a car burst into flames on the shoulder.
The driver, who was in the car with several children, smelled something burning and pulled over near the Airport Road exit sometime between 10 p.m. and midnight, said Highway Safety Patrol spokesman Brian Mobley.
The car was quickly consumed with fire, although no one was reported injured, he said.
