Pickens County, Ala., Sheriff”s deputies have arrested five men for the Sept. 22 robbery and kidnapping of an Aliceville couple.
The masked and hooded defendants, armed with a handgun and clubs, approached the couple at about 9:30 a.m. as they were sitting on their front porch on Alabama Highway 17 North, said Pickens County Sheriff David Abston.
The defendants “roughed up” the pair before two men forced the husband to withdraw an undisclosed amount of cash from a nearby ATM machine, the sheriff said.
Abston declined to release the names and address of the victims, who were uninjured.
The sheriff”s office and Aliceville police discovered information that led to a search warrant of the Country Lane Trailer Park at 1700 First Ave. S.W., Abston said.
Officers found the stolen goods, which included guns, jewelry and assorted household items, in the woods near the trailer park.
The loot was guarded by about 10 pit bulls, three of which were shot and killed by officers, Abston said.
Officers arrested Garry L. Ball, 30, his 19-year-old nephew, Anthony D. Ball, his 24-year-old brother-in-law, Credell J. Eastling, and Deondrea “D.D.” Thomas, 19, all of whom lived in the trailer park.
They also arrested Joshua “Bosh” Williams, 17, of 107 Mobile Road in Aliceville. Williams will be tried as an adult, Abston said.
The defendants, who are being held in the Pickens County jail, are charged with robbery, burglary and two counts of kidnapping, all in the first degree, Abston said. The sum of their bonds is $500,000.
Abston said deputies are still investigating the defendants” possible gang affiliations.
