The 43-year-old man who chased a woman from her house with a sword Saturday has been arrested in Columbus.
O”Dell Stevenson Carter Jr., of 114 Gaylane Drive, broke into a house in the 800 block of Alabama Street at about 3 a.m. to steal a female acquaintance”s medication, said police Lt. Selvain McQueen.
Carter kicked in the back door and the woman”s bedroom door, grabbed a sword off of a gun rack and chased her to a neighbor”s house, where she called 911, said police Public Information Officer Terrie Songer.
The defendant, who was charged with burglary and kidnapping, is being held in the Lowndes County jail on a $50,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Lowndes County Circuit Court on Nov. 18.
McQueen was unsure what kind of sword was used in the burglary.
