STARKVILLE – Power Integrations Inc. has announced that it will invest $30 million in SemiSouth Laboratories Inc., a semiconductor manufacturer in Starkville.
The companies announced in a news release Friday that Power Intergrations” investment will help with the expansion of SemiSouth”s silicon-carbide semiconductor facility.
Power Integrations, headquartered in San Jose, Calif., makes integrated circuits used for power conversion.
SemiSouth Laboratories says its SiC technology enables ultra-efficient power conversion for solar and wind inverters, hybrid/electric vehicles and other applications that benefit from high energy efficiency.
SemiSouth operates a 10,000-square-foot clean-room facility at its Starkville headquarters, where it employs more than 70 people.
