A lawsuit filed to stop the implementation of a dress code in Starkville schools beginning this fall has been dismissed.
The Starkville Daily News reports that Oktibbeha County Judge Jim Kitchens Jr. dismissed the lawsuit this week after the parents who filed the suit notified the court that they no longer wished to pursue it.
The school board approved the dress code in March. The dress code specifies the types of shirts, pants and other clothing students will be allowed to wear. Each school would determine clothing colors.
Schools Superintendent Judy Couey has said that research has shown uniforms to decrease disciplinary issues and improve student concentration.
