PHENIX CITY, Ala. – Authorities say a 5-year-old east Alabama boy was mauled to death by a pack of wild dogs.
Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry tells the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer that it appears Cason Bryant was attacked by “as many as 12″ mixed-breed dogs Monday afternoon.
Sumbry says the boy suffered a number of severe bite marks and was pronounced dead at 2:32 p.m. at The Medical Center in Columbus, Ga.
Sumbry says he”s ordered an autopsy. He expects a preliminary report within a couple days.
The Russell County Sheriff”s Office is investigating the case.
