The Starkville Police Department is asking for the public”s help to identify two men suspected of robbing a convenience store this weekend on Russell Street.
A store clerk was standing outside Down The Hatch Saturday at approximately 1:33 p.m. when two men approached from the south end of the building. To conceal their identities, one suspect held a backpack over his face while the other covered his face with a garbage bag, according to statement released by Starkville police.
Because of the suspects” actions, the clerk felt the men were there to rob the store and, as a result, fled the scene on foot and called 911, according to the SPD. The men then entered the store, took an undetermined amount of cash and fled south on foot.
Both of the suspects are described as black men, although police had no estimation on their ages. One of the men was wearing a dark plaid shirt, dark jeans and white shoes. The other man was wearing a light-colored hooded sweatshirt, tight jeans and dark shoes.
Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call Starkville Police Department Detective Chadd Garnett at 662-323-4131, ext. 136 or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 1-800-530-7151.
