Starkville”s 38th annual Holiday Bazaar will conclude today at the city”s Sportsplex after three days of arts, crafts and holiday decor.
More than 80 vendors from throughout the South converged on Starkville this week for the three-day event. Until this year, the Holiday Bazaar was held at Mississippi State University. The Starkville Main Street Association and Greater Starkville Development Partnership are running the event this year and are “very pleased” with the turnout, Starkville Main Street Association program coordinator Robyn Cain said.
Throughout the Sportsplex, vendors sold paintings, jewelry, clothes and other items this week. There were purses and luggage, as well as food, decorations and homemade crafts, among other things.
As shopper Leann Brown of West Point wandered through the aisles in the Sportsplex gymnasium, she came across dozens of colorful glass pendants being sold by Ellen Harrison, of Beau”s Promos in Hazel Green, Ala. The pair chatted for several minutes and shared a few laughs before Brown continued down the aisle.
“I just love coming up here,” Harrison said. “Everybody is so friendly.”
The Holiday Bazaar concludes at 2 p.m. today. Admission is free. The Starkville Sportsplex is located at 405 Lynn Lane.
