Columbus shoppers hungry for new retail will get their wish in the form of a T.J. Maxx.
Phillip Panell, general contractor on the project, expects the discount designer outlet store to open “some time in April” at 1484 Old Aberdeen Road, the former Goody”s clothing store next to Old Navy.
Panell”s company, Pannell Builders, out of Verona, is awaiting a building permit to begin renovations next week. Columbus Zoning Officer Kenny Weigel said Thursday he expected the permit to be issued before the end of the day.
The 20,000-square-foot building will be retrofitted with T.J.Maxx stylings after demolition of some interior walls and ceiling tiles.
The T.J. Maxx website describes the store as a discount retailer of overstocked designer clothing and furniture purchased from high-end department stores.
