TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Police in Tuscaloosa say two young women fended off a 20-year-old man who broke into their apartments by punching him in the face.
Yuni Romero Gonzalez was taken to the Tuscaloosa County Jail early Thursday with one of his eyes swollen shut.
Tuscaloosa police say Gonzalez entered a condominium unit at about 2:45 a.m. through a door that did not have a deadbolt lock. Police spokesman Brent Blankley says the 19-year-old resident was getting out of the shower when she saw the intruder, and screamed and punched him.
Police say the intruder ran into another unlocked apartment, where he attacked a 20-year-old woman who fought back and ran.
Gonzalez is charged with burglary and was being held on $90,000 bail.
