The Starkville Police Department is investigating the city”s second armed robbery in less than a week.
At about 12:05 p.m. Tuesday, a man brandished a semi-automatic handgun and demanded money at the BP Service Station at Lynn Lane and Louisville Street. The man took an undisclosed amount of money and fled south on foot.
Investigators describe the suspect as a black male, approximately 6 feet tall, who was wearing blue jeans, a blue hooded sweatshirt with white writing and a bandana across his face. Police were still gathering evidence and information as of Tuesday evening.
Tuesday”s incident marked the second armed robbery in Starkville over the last week. On Jan. 19, a man robbed the McDonald”s on Highway 12 West, but police have since charged 34-year-old James White, of Houston, with armed robbery and conspiracy to distribute narcotics. He remains jailed on a $110,000 bond.
