James Earl Beasley, 70, of Columbus, MS passed away Monday, April 29, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle, Columbus, MS. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 1, 2013, from 6-9 pm at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Graveside services will be Friday, May 3, 2013, at 11 am in Southlawn Cemetery, Aiken, S.C. with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mr. Beasley was born February 15, 1943, in Detroit, AL to the late Emmett Othell Beasley and Willie Lou Winsett Beasley. He was a member of McBee Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Mr. Beasley was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and he worked for Weyerhaeuser for over 20 years. He enjoyed working on old tractors and cars and spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Helen Thomason Beasley. Mr. Beasley is survived by his sons, James Damon (Michelle) Beasley, Caledonia, MS and James Darren (Deedra) Beasley, Columbus, MS; grandchildren, Macy Christian Beasley, Logan Matthew Beasley, Darian Brooke Beasley and James Michael Beasley; 4 half-sisters and 3 half-brothers. Pallbearers will be Dennis Barton, Anthony Barton, Donald Jones, Herbert Thomason, Gary Duke and John Purtell. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Donny Stokes and the nurses and staff of Baptist Memorial Hospital and Hospice.
