Mrs. Martha Ann Cockrell Fenster, 76, of Columbus was born April 3, 1937, to the late Thomas L. Cockrell and Bessie Chandler Cockrell in Macon, MS. Services will be Saturday, June 22, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Northside M.B. Church in Columbus, MS with Pastor Leon Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Community Cemetery in Macon, MS. Visitation will be today from 3-8 p.m. The family will greet friends from 6-7 p.m. at Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus, MS. Martha Ann and Charlie “Pete” Fenster, Sr., were united in holy matrimony in 1957 and to this union four jewels were born. She confessed hope in Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Carmel M.B. Church in Macon, MS. She later moved to Columbus, MS and joined Northside M.B. Church where she sang in the Gospel Chorus, Sanctuary and Saints of Unity Choir. Mother remained a faithful servant to the ministry for over 50 years until she made her peaceful transition. She also sang with the Zionettes for many years. Martha worked as a Child Care Giver for 30 years in her home until she retired. On Saturday, June 15, 2013, God saw fit to call one of his angels home to spend eternity with him. Our beloved mother, granny, sister and aunt will be truly missed by all.... She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charlie “Pete” Fenster, Sr.; sisters, Lucille Chandler and Hattie Williams; brothers, Joe Eddie Cockrell and Thomas Lee Cockrell, Jr.; and one special nephew, Franklin Cockrell. Martha Ann leaves her legacy and cherished memories to four children, Isaac (Henrietta) Fenster, Diana Fenster, Charlie Fenster, Jr., and Lillie Fenster, all of Columbus, MS; eleven grandchildren, Jovi Fenster of Shreveport, LA, Terrell Davis and Joshua Fenster of Columbus, MS, Jessica Fenster of Tuscaloosa, AL, Jarvis Fenster, Isaac Jr., Charlie III, Amy and Miles Fenster, Marcus Davis and Malcolm Williams, all of Columbus, MS; three great-grandchildren, Kayla Perry of Houston, TX, Jayden Fenster and Adrain Davis of Columbus, MS; three sisters, Mable C. Mosley of Columbus, MS, Lillie Mae Brooks of St. Louis, MO and Annie (Bishop James) Turner of Mobile, AL; one brother, Douglas (Mary) Cockrell of Columbus, MS; two sisters-in-law, Earnestine Hairston and Jennie Richards of Columbus, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Willie Cockrell, Jr., Daniel Cockrell, Kendrick Cockrell, Douglas Cockrell, Johnny Cockrell, Quinton McCrary, Timothy Pegues, and Eric Turner.
