Paul Marvin Tilley, 84, of Aliceville, AL passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Pickens County Medical Center, Carrollton, AL. Visitation will be Saturday, July 27, 2013, from 2-3 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services will follow at 3 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel, Columbus, MS with Bro. Al Hamm officiating and Bro. Tony Tilley assisting. Interment will be in Forest Cemetery, Ethelsville, AL with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing. Mr. Tilley was born April 18, 1929, in Ethelsville, AL to the late James E. and Jenny Lou Lowe Tilley. He worked as a farmer for 80 years. Mr. Tilley was a lifelong resident of Pickens County, AL and was a member of Victory Free Will Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. He enjoyed inventing, building, and repairing anything mechanical, including a concrete motor. In addition to his parents, Mr. Tilley was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Tilley; brothers, Lanier Tilley, Herbert Tilley, Harvell Tilley, Raymond Tilley and Huron Tilley; and sisters, Argyl Jewel, Ruth Walters and Virginia Tilley. Mr. Tilley is survived by his brother, Louis Tilley, Columbus, MS; sister, Rachel (William) Owen, Ethelsville, AL; and a number of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Mr. Tilley’s nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Aliceville Manor and Sansing Country Home. Memorials may be made to Victory Free Will Baptist Church, 100 Victory Loop, Columbus, MS 39702.
