COLUMBUS —Velma Louise Jenkins Walker, 98, died July 31, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital–Golden Triangle. Services are Saturday at 11 a.m. at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel in Tuscaloosa, AL with the Rev. Linda Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. until time of services. Mrs. Walker was born Feb. 2. 1915, to the late William Lonzo and Leona Keller Jenkins. She was a wife and homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith and had lived at Home Place Retirement Center for the past six and a half years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William James Eugene Walker; brothers, Malcolm, Floyd, Fred, Dalton and Gaither Jenkins; and sisters, Alva Black and Vera Cowan. Survivors include her sons, James Eugene Walker (Ethel) of Linden, AL and William Douglas Walker (Ann) of Columbus, MS.
