MACON — Betty Jean Cooper, 77, died July 15, 2014. Services were Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church in Macon. Burial followed at Soule Chapel Cemetery near Macon. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon were entrusted with the services. Mrs. Cooper was born March 7, 1937, in Noxubee County to the late Jimmy Jack and Annie Louise McCreight Cotton. She was a graduate of Shuqualak High School. She was formerly employed as a long-time office manager for the Macon Beacon Newspaper and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Noxubee Garden Club and the Ageless Wonders. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis T. Cooper; brothers, Edward Cotton, Paul Cotton and Jimmy Cotton; sisters, Eloise Lybarger, Marie Abrams and Shirley Schallert. She is survived by her daughter, Vicki McCuistion of Brandon, Florida; son, Jackie Cooper of Leeds, Alabama; sisters, Dorothy Harvey and Alice Slawson, both of Macon; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
