COLUMBUS — Hattie B. Temple, 89, died July 23, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Hopewell MB Church with Hosea Hines officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens. Visitation is today from 3-8 p.m. at Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus. Mrs. Temple was born in Oktibbeha County on Nov. 19, 1924, to the late Walter Brooks and Adella Brooks. She was formerly employed with Columbus Hospital and Ten Tom Catfish. She was a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Temple; children, J. C. Shelton and Cream Ester Shelton Billups; siblings, Mary Ella Johnson, Georgia Brown, Hannah Aiken, T. W. Brooks, Suzie Laura and Walter Brooks Jr.; and one grandson. She is survived by children, Dorothy Lowe of Caledonia, Rebertha Shelton of Mobile, Alabama, Lucy McGregory and Andre Shelton, both of Jackson, Easter Fenton, Yvonne Johnson, Van T. Shelton, and Edna Jean Flood, all of Columbus, Henry Lee Shelton and Ephris Shelton, both of Indianapolis; 36 grandchildren, and 44 great-grandchildren.
