COLUMBUS — Belton Lang, 83, died Aug. 27, 2014, at his residence. Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Word International Church with Michael Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Piney Grove MB Church Cemetery. Visitation is today from noon-6 p.m. at Carter’s of Columbus. Mr. Lang was born in Columbus on Feb. 7, 1931, to the late Major and Magnolia Lang. He was a member of Piney Grove MB Church and was formerly employed at Johnston Tombigbee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Freddie Lang, Jim Lang and Major Lang Jr.; sister, Mary Lang; son, Mack Lang; and daughter, Betty Norman. He is survived by sons, Joe Wells, Johnny Wells, John L. Barksdale, Willie Barksdale, Jimmy Lee Barksdale and Kevin B. Smith, all of Columbus; daughters, Barbara Smith, Rose Mae Barksdale and Mary Wells, all of Columbus, Zettie Nicks of Racine, Wisconsin, Dorothy Washington of Steens, Mary Riddle of Aberdeen and Rose Wells of Detroit; sisters, Irene Barksdale and Rebecca Harrison, both of Columbus; 21 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jerry Harris, Shawn Sherrod, Troy Sherrod, James Smith, Robert Cunning, Antonio Long and Bennie Wells.
