ALICEVILLE, Ala. — James Porter “Shug” Henders I, 88, died Oct. 19, 2014, at Sansing Country Home in Carrollton, Alabama. Graveside services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hebron United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Alexander officiating. Memorial services will follow at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Skelton Funeral Home. Mr. Henders was born in Dancy, Alabama, on May 21, 1926, to the late Fred W. Henders and Celia Smith Henders. He was a member of Hebron United Methodist Church and formerly employed with Huyck Felt Company in Aliceville. He was a U. S. Army Veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Elma Jo Emerson; brothers, Bill Henders, Albert Henders and Walter “Pistol” Henders. He is survived by his wife, Lelia Duke Henders of Aliceville; daughter, Tracy Henders of Peach Tree City, Georgia; sons, Jim Henders of Dancy and Duke Henders of Gordo, Alabama; sister, Nellie Mitchell of Chipley, Florida; and five grandchildren.
