MACON — Laura Mae Battle, 77, died Feb. 24, 2015, at Rush Foundation Hospital in Meridian. Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Elon Baptist Church in Macon. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation is today from 6-8 p.m. at Cockrell Funeral Home. Mrs. Battle was born in Shuqualak on Nov. 28, 1937, to the late Joseph Tilton and Beatrice Daniels Lee. She was formerly employed as a test stand operator with Bosch-United Technology and a member of Elon Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Freeman Battle; two children, Angela Battle Fincher and Robert Travis Battle; and two brothers, James Edward Lee and Thomas Calvin Lee. She is survived by daughters, Nancy Rigdon of Macon and Kathy Edwards of Eupora; sons, Mark Battle of Macon and David Battle of Cedar Bluff; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Willie B. Carney of Butler, Alabama, Lettie Mae Strickland of Opelika, Alabama, Lucy Holcombe and Carolyn Rigdon, both of Macon; and brother, J. T. Lee of Macon.
