LOUISVILLE — James E. Vernon, 92, died Nov. 28, 2015. Services are today at 10 a.m. at the River of Life Church with Nathan Lowe, Allen Eaves, Eddie Agnew and Gerald Butler officiating. Burial will follow at the Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery in Kemper County. Visitation was Sunday at River of Life Church. Cockrell Funeral Home of Macon is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Vernon was born Nov. 17, 1923, to the late Clarence L. and Lela Joyce Hancock Vernon. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of River of Life Church. He was previously employed by Taylor Machine Works and Delta Macon Brick Co. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers; three sisters; and sons, Earl and Michael Vernon. He is survived by his wife, Emma Jean Vernon; daughters, Linda Agnew of Louisville and Rebecca Foster of Nettleton; son, Jerry Vernon of Louisville; sister, Joyce Presley of Macon; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren
