Ginny Graham

Virginia Young “Ginny” Graham, age 72, of Columbus, MS, passed away November 24, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital after a long battle with cancer. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Gunter & Peel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Ginny was born February 26, 1943, in Wichita Falls, TX, to Blanche Reynolds Young of Columbus, MS, and the late Santford C. Young, Sr. She graduated from high school in Pine Bluff, AR. She received a BS degree in Speech Pathology and a Masters Degree in Special Education from MSCW. She taught at the Center For Special Children at the W and continued with the program at Golden Triangle Regional Medical Center and First Presbyterian Church until the program was moved to Joe Cook Elementary School, where she continued to work until she retired. Ginny was a member of the Columbus Jr. Auxiliary, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and the St. Paul’s Alter Guild. In addition to her mother, survivors include her husband, Tyson Graham of Columbus, MS, son, Glen Graham and his wife Brooks of Hillsborough, NC, daughter, Georgia Graham Rhody and her husband Matt of New Orleans, LA, and brother, Santford C. Young, Jr. and his wife Chris of Tuscon, AZ. Memorials may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
